HIFU (high-intensity focused ultrasound) sends ultrasound to set depths under the skin, as deep as the SMAS, a layer of tissue under the skin and fat. It heats small points there without breaking the surface. The aim is skin that looks and feels a little firmer for a time. Any change is gradual, differs from person to person, and is not a substitute for surgery.
